About Austin Book Review
A City That Reads
Austin has always been a city of storytellers. From the live music stages on Sixth Street to the poetry readings at Malvern Books, this city runs on creative expression. Austin Book Review was born from that energy: a belief that Austin's readers deserve a review publication that reflects their city.
We're an independent book review site focused on honest, thoughtful criticism. We review literary fiction, genre fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, and everything in between. We believe every book deserves a fair reading, and every reader deserves straight talk about what's worth their time.
What Makes Us Different
Most book review sites are generic. They serve everyone and no one. We're rooted in Austin. Our bestseller lists come from real sales data at local indie bookstores like BookPeople and Interabang Books. Our bookstore directory highlights the shops that make this city's literary scene vibrant.
When we say "What Austin Is Reading This Week," we mean it. Real data. Real stores. Real readers.
For Authors
We accept submissions from self-published and traditionally published authors. Our reviews are professional, honest, and designed to help readers discover great books. We offer three tiers of service:
- Standard Review ($199): A 400-600 word professional review with star rating, published on our site with buy links.
- Expedited Review ($299): Priority scheduling, featured homepage placement, and an extended review.
- Author Interview ($399): Everything in Expedited plus a dedicated Q&A interview page.
Part of a Network
Austin Book Review is part of the City Book Review network, a family of independent review publications serving readers in cities across the country. Every review we publish reaches readers in dozens of cities, giving authors maximum exposure while keeping the local perspective that makes each publication unique.
